Clinical Trial: Eczema

Eczema is a skin condition where the skin becomes red, inflamed, dry, itchy and irritated. In severe cases, the skin can weep, bleed and crust over, or even become infected. This can cause the sufferer a lot of discomfort impacting their quality of life. The condition can also flare and subside for no apparent reason. Unfortunately, at present there is no cure for this skin condition.

Hi, my name is Sabrina, and I live in Blacktown, Sydney. I am a marketing manager for a technology company, and I love going to the gym, taking my pet pug out for walks and reading.

All my life I have suffered from eczema, which has been all over my body. From the day I was born I have had trouble sleeping, waking up with scars and red patches all over my body.

I was lucky during my adolescent life and responded well to treatments but by the time I reached my early 20’s and was working fulltime it took a turn for the worse. I was hospitalised for full body eczema and dehydration – I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t work and I couldn’t sleep from the pain.

During my hospitalisation I was fortunate enough to meet a new dermatologist who helped connect me to the clinical trials team at The Skin Hospital. By this point I had stopped responding to all medication including topical steroids.

At the time there was a clinical trial for eczema that I was eligible to participate in, so I signed up. Deciding to become involved made me feel super nervous but at the same time I was very excited to find something new. I didn’t have any idea what it would be like but it turned out to be an amazing experience and was life changing. It surpassed all my expectations and 1 year in I almost have a clear body & face.

I recommend everyone try it! The staff were incredibly helpful, well informed, and friendly. They kept me updated all the way through and were super clear about the process, right from the start.

The best part is today I almost have completely clear skin. I have no problems sleeping, or with my mobility, and I am back at the gym 4-5 days a week with no pain. If you would like to see a life changing experience this, is it!

My family and friends tell me I am like a new person. Most importantly, I can now do what I couldn’t before – I can play with my pet pug without pain, I can enjoy the gym and the beach with my friend and I can wear the clothes I like. It’s like I never had eczema.
