Cosmetic and Laser

What is cosmetic and laser in dermatology?

Cosmetic dermatology focuses on improving the skins appearance through non-surgical and minimally invasive procedures addressing concerns like wrinkles, fine lines, sun damage, scars and skin texture to achieve a more youthful and radiant look.

Unlike medical dermatology, cosmetic dermatology aims to enhance normal, healthy skin by using techniques such as injectables, fillers and laser treatments.

Laser dermatology is a popular and effective way to treat a range of skin concerns including but not limited to:

  • Wrinkles
  • Age spots
  • Scars
  • Birthmarks

Treatments

Common treatments for addressing cosmetic concerns include:

  • Injectables: used for reducing wrinkles, adding volume and contouring the face
  • Laser treatments: technologies like laser genesis stimulate collagen production to improve wrinkles and texture, while other lasers target redness and pigmentation
  • Radiofrequency (RF) devices: devices like Venus viva use RF energy to remodel collagen, improving skin texture and reducing scars
  • Light therapies: such as LED light therapy can stimulate cell production, improve circulation and aid in skin rejuvenation.

We would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which The Skin Hospital operates. For thousands of years, these lands have been cared for by Indigenous communities and their ancestors. We recognise and appreciate their ongoing connection to Country, culture, and community. We also pay our respects to the elders, past and present, of these communities, as well as to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who have contributed to the cultural heritage of this country.
