What is Pediatrics?

Pediatric dermatology is a specialised field that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of skin, hair and nail conditions in infants, children and adolescents. Pediatric dermatologists are experts in managing a range of common conditions like eczema, acne, warts and birthmarks as well as rare and complex skin disorders unique to young patients.

At The Skin Hospital our Pediatric care is focused on dermatological skin conditions including diagnosis, treatment and management.

The most common pediatric skin conditions include:

  • Viral Infections: hand, foot and mouth disease and chickenpox
  • Bacterial Infections: impetigo and cellulitis (which may appear like sores or rashes)
  • Fungal Infections: athletes foot (tinea pedis) and tinea varsicolor
  • Parasitic Infections:  scabies is a common itchy rash

We would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which The Skin Hospital operates. For thousands of years, these lands have been cared for by Indigenous communities and their ancestors. We recognise and appreciate their ongoing connection to Country, culture, and community. We also pay our respects to the elders, past and present, of these communities, as well as to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who have contributed to the cultural heritage of this country.
