Education & training

The Skin Hospital is a registered educational institution, and with its association with the Australasian College of Dermatologists is committed to the training of dermatology registrars. We estimate that in the past 15 years, 95% of dermatologists admitted to Fellowship in NSW have spent time training at The Skin Hospital and currently we train more dermatologists than any other institution in Australia.

Education

Our commitment to education

As New South Wales’ largest dermatology registrar training site, The Skin Hospital plays a central role in shaping the future of dermatology in Australia. We deliver education across the full healthcare spectrum, from GPs and nurses to registrars and specialists, ensuring patients everywhere have access to high-quality, continuous care.

Dermatology remains one of the smaller medical specialties in Australia, and building workforce capacity is critical. As a not-for-profit organisation, all profit is reinvested into registrar training, clinical trials, and research, reinforcing our long-term commitment to education and better patient outcomes.

Improving access

Expanding rural and regional access

Improving access to specialist care in rural and regional Australia is a priority. Through registrar placements, visiting dermatologist programs, and education tailored to local health professionals, we extend dermatology services to areas where they are most needed. This approach reduces inequities in care, builds local capability, and ensures patients in rural communities’ benefit from continuity of treatment.

Education

Lifelong learning for specialists

Our commitment to education extends beyond registrar training. Through advanced workshops, masterclasses, and national conferences, we provide Fellows and dermatologists with opportunities to expand their expertise in emerging therapies, complex case management, and research developments. With both in-person and digital delivery, our programs are accessible to health professionals across Australia.

Education, research and collaboration

Education at The Skin Hospital is strengthened by close links with research and collaboration. We work with universities, professional bodies, industry, and patient advocacy organisations to ensure our programs are evidence-based, innovative, and patient-focused. These partnerships make it possible to deliver impactful educational initiatives that advance dermatology and directly improve patient care.
