Acne

Causes & Symptoms

Acne is a very common condition, affecting people of all ages.  At The Skin Hospital we treat over 4000 patients each year so we understand the distress this skin condition can cause.

Acne is characterised by the presence of blackheads and whiteheads (known as comedones), and in more severe cases there is inflammation with pustules and cysts.  In most cases, this condition starts at adolescence due to the changes in hormone levels but it can also be experienced by all age groups, including the elderly.

Acne can range from a few spots on the face, neck, back or chest which most teenagers will experience at some point, to a more significant problem that can result in acne scarring.

Treatment at The Skin Hospital

The severity of this skin condition differs from person to person, therefore it is important to seek professional help and receive a personalised treatment plan.

We highly recommend you book a consultation at The Skin Hospital.  Our highly trained dermatologists will be able to diagnose the specific acne problem you are suffering from, as well as the most suitable treatment.

The Skin Hospital Westmead has a speciality clinic dedicated to the treatment of acne which is run by Dr Haady Fallah. If you would like to find out more about the Acne Clinic please contact us.
